A Brief Biography
Dr Sipho Mahlangu is a pastoral counsellor, practical theologian, and educator with a deep commitment to accompanying individuals, couples, and families through emotional, relational, and spiritual challenges. His work is grounded in compassion, ethical integrity, and respect for the dignity and lived experiences of those he serves.
He holds a Doctorate in Practical Theology, specialising in Church Leadership and Ministerial Practice, with particular emphasis on Pastoral Care and Counselling. He also holds an MBA from the UNISA School of Business Leadership (SBL) and studied a Bachelor of Science (BSc) at the University of Durban-Westville. He is currently studying towards a second doctorate (PhD) in Public Policy and International Affairs, expanding his engagement with leadership, governance, and social systems.
Dr Sipho Mahlangu integrates theological reflection, counselling practice, leadership insight, and contextual awareness in his work. His approach is holistic, client-centred, and attentive to the complex intersections between faith, personal well-being, leadership responsibilities, and societal realities. He is committed to creating safe, confidential, and non-judgemental spaces that foster healing, growth, and purposeful living.

Dr Sipho Mahlangu brings together years of pastoral experience and professional training in counselling and practical theology. He currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in Practical Theology, with a focus on pastoral care, counselling, and leadership formation.
Dr Sipho Mahlangu is a professionally registered member of the Council for Pastoral and Spiritual Counsellors (CPSC), a SAQA-recognised professional body for Christian religious practitioners in South Africa, and practices in accordance with its ethical code of conduct.
Ethics, Confidentiality & Boundaries
Counselling sessions are conducted with strict attention to confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical responsibility. Where a client’s needs fall outside the scope of counselling, appropriate referrals to medical, psychological, or psychiatric professionals are made.
My aim is not to “fix” people, but to walk with them toward understanding, healing, and informed decision-making.
